KVC Health Systems
Established in 1969, KVC provides a continuum of integrated child welfare and mental health services to children and families within an advanced organizational community. KVC offers one of the largest continuums of care in the nation, serving nearly 40,000 children and families daily in Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, West Virginia and Kentucky. KVC provides Psychiatric Hospital and Residential Treatment; Community and Home-based Outpatient Services; Resource Family Care and Licensing; Respite Services; Family Preservation, Reintegration, Adoption and Juvenile Justice Services; Aftercare; and Parent Education Services.
KVC is a lead child welfare contractor in the established Kansas public/private partnership (1996) and is two years into an outcomes based contract with the State of Nebraska. As a national leader in child welfare practice, (Annie E. Casey Family Foundation, Best Practice Journalistic Review, 2008,) KVC works to provide comprehensive interventions for children and families in the child welfare system, thereby increasing their ability to succeed in consistent and responsive environments as trauma informed stakeholders work diligently toward safe and timely permanency.
KVC is integrating Trauma Systems Therapy into every aspect of its service delivery continuum following a successful pilot study funded by the REACH Healthcare Foundation. Currently, KVC is partnering with Dr. Saxe, the Annie E. Casey Foundation and Child Trends to complete research on the utilization of TST as a mechanism to reduce length of time in out-of-home care, increase placement stability and improve child and family well-being for children in the child welfare system.
KVC has as its mission, “To enrich and enhance the lives of children and families by providing medical and behavioral healthcare, social services and education.” Our vision is to provide leadership in behavioral healthcare, social services and professional education through the provision of service delivery models with proven quality and fiscal accountability. Within this broad continuum of care, KVC partners with local and state community service providers, court systems and political leaders.
